xAI Grok routing

Use Grok alongside your approved services

Run TEKIZ.AI on your machine or private server with your xAI key. Your apps use one address for Grok and the other models you approve. Hosted access uses a separate TEKIZ.AI key and the models available to your account.

Use your own xAI key

Put your authorized XAI_API_KEY on a router you control. xAI sign-in sessions are separate from API access.

OpenAI-compatible setup

For the hosted API, point OpenAI-compatible apps at https://api.tekiz.ai/v1. Hosted requests use routes available to your account. To use your own Grok credentials, configure them on a local router.

When a Grok route rate-limits

If a Grok key or model is rate-limited, TEKIZ.AI can try another authorized route you configured. Your app keeps the same endpoint.

Send a test request

This tests your hosted TEKIZ.AI key with automatic routing. To use Grok with your own credentials, set up a local router and configure the credentials on that router.

export OPENAI_BASE_URL=https://api.tekiz.ai/v1
export OPENAI_API_KEY=sk_tekiz_your_generated_key

curl "$OPENAI_BASE_URL/chat/completions" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $OPENAI_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "tekizai/auto",
    "messages": [{"role": "user", "content": "Give me three ideas for a product FAQ."}]
  }'

Use more than one xAI key

Add multiple authorized xAI keys. TEKIZ.AI shares requests across keys that are working and pauses only the key that fails.

Send files to services that accept them

Images, audio, video, and documents are sent only to models that can handle that kind of input.

Use accounts you are allowed to use

TEKIZ.AI plans provide routing, API keys, usage limits, and request history. They do not include xAI access or proxy xAI sign-in sessions.

Why put TEKIZ.AI in front of Grok?

Keep your authorized xAI key on a router you control. TEKIZ.AI checks which configured models are available and can try another eligible local or cloud model if Grok cannot take a request.

Next steps

Create an API key, copy the hosted quickstart, use the OpenAI-compatible setup, or estimate routing fit.

Stay within your approved services

If your company approves only xAI, keep that boundary. TEKIZ.AI can reduce token burn by choosing eligible models. Your xAI account handles provider billing.
